The Medium is set in the Niwa Workers' Resort where Marianne goes after receiving a phone call from a panicked man who refers to himself as Thomas.ĭuring the call, Thomas explains that he knows who and what Marianne is, telling the game's protagonist that he needs her help. Thomas Is a Spirit and a Medium Thomas, the person responsible for sending you over to the decrepit hotel, turns out to be a medium and Marianne's father. If Bloober Team ever received a green light for a sequel, they may use this to connect the second game with the first game, with the sequel possibly revolving around Thomas' exploits or Marianne, assuming she's still alive, looking for Thomas herself. We learn in the said scene that the spirit version of Thomas is alive and well, no longer bound in the Niwa Hotel. Now, whether or not Marianne decides to push through and kill herself (more on the possible reasons why she would do this later on) is left ambiguous seemingly on purpose, but there is an after-credits scene that opens the plot up to a potential sequel. The Medium Ending Recap Considering what she had just learned about herself, we wouldn't be surprised if Marianne did really end up killing herself.īefore the game ends and everything fades into black, we're taken to a scene where Marianne points a handgun to her head.

The game stars a woman, Marianne, who has struggled with her psychic powers all her life. In particular, one of the more confusing things about The Medium is its ending.
This has left numerous players quite perplexed, especially when it comes to the ending. And, even though most of these questions were eventually answered, there was a bunch that wasn't.

The game features a chilling and evocative soundtrack co-composed by the legendary Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill franchise) and Arkadiusz Reikowski (Bloober Team), of which an exclusive track is now available to download via Steam. The Medium is Bloober Team’s largest and most ambitious project to date, and will see players explore two realities simultaneously as they uncover a dark mystery masked by disturbing secrets, sinister spirits and devious puzzles. It Came From the Rage - The Medium Trailer: Ī brand-new piece of artwork entitled ‘The Gift’ has also been unveiled that showcases Marianne, the titular medium, as she readies her psychic energy against the backdrop of the material world and the spirit world - with the protagonist existing in both of them at the same time.
